How do employees in (most) European countries treat their pay slips? Which country has the highest rate of downloaded pay slips? Is there a difference between seasons of the year? Dive into the statistics we collected from TULIP platform which is a tool for pay slip distribution for companies in 24 countries. Till this day, there have been 2 million pay slips distributed through TULIP.

Why should you be interested in your pay slip?
You receive your pay slip every month. This document declares your evaluation for the month and it is important for pension calculation. In every country, mandatory information on the pay slip is different based on local legislation.
Usually, it is allowed to distribute a pay slip in paper or electronic form. When using e-form, personal data protection is mandatory, so these documents are usually locked and protected with password. If the client uses TULIP for the distribution, there is no need to lock documents, because employees receive them in their own account with high protection.
Let’s look at the statistics of our clients around the Europe and countries from other continents (the overview includes e.g. India or South Africa).
In which country are employees interested the most in their pay slips?
The average of all 24* TULIP countries is 57 %. That is the percentage of employees downloading their pay slips from TULIP. The closest nation to the average is Slovaks with 58 % of downloads.
The biggest interest was measured in Denmark with 81 % downloads. The lowest interest is shown in Slovenia (39 %) and Ukraine (only 35 % downloads).

What about other European countries?
See statistics of some lands from our review:
We did not notice any significant difference between downloads in seasons. Averages in countries show that seasons have no impact on how much pay slips are downloaded:
Is there a difference in pay slip downloads by industry?
Shortly – no. We did not recognise any difference of pay slip download by industry.
To be more specific – one finance institution has statistics of downloads on 48 % average, while two of their competitors show 74 % pay slip downloads from TULIP.
The lowest download percentage was measured in health care institution (32 %).
The highest download percentage was measured in accounts of client which provides lifting devices -– 80 % of pay slips downloaded.
We also looked at our own numbers. TULIP Solutions employees download their pay slips on average of 58 %.
Interest in pay slips gets lower year by year
Very interesting information was detected when comparing statistics within years. When looking at previous four years and including unfinished 2021, we can see that the download percentage gets continuously lower. The question is what the reason behind the situation is.
Pay slips are proof of our work and situation in the country and company we work for. They are needed for pension calculation; therefore, we recommend that you show higher interest and store them. You might even find some errors or mistakes in your salary calculation (payroll software is not an error free tool, none is), so make sure you are not losing money deservedly earned.
TULIP is an ESS portal which (among other features) enables a company to publish pay slips for employees directly to their secured cloud account.
